This unidentified African-American man looks worn as he poses in front of a makeshift backdrop for this tintype. Unfortunately, we have not been able to identify him yet. Tintypes were an extremely popular photographic process during the Civil War years. They were relatively inexpensive and very portable. This one has lost its case or folder and has been bent slightly over the years. Source: Delaware Historical Society Collections.
